As a member of the ST Partner Program, we have produced a module that bundles STM32F7 respectively STM32H7 MCU board, an industrial TFT display with a capacitive touch panel sensor as well as a cover
lens, and a number of industrial interfaces, to offer a one-stop solution when designing an embedded system with a display.
When going deeper into technical details you see that the following Interfaces, RS232, RS485, CAN, I2C, SPI, USB-OTG, GPIO are available on the Smart Embedded module and some modules also include Ethernet/PoE. The Industrial
interfaces enables you to control your new or existing system and the I2C/SPI can connect to all kind of Sensors, BLE, Wi Fi, LoRa modules etc.
Having aHaving a wide power supply input range of 7 to 36 Volt - makes it easier to integrate the module to general power supply unit, if it is used in a 'mockup' of a prototype for a new product.
The USB-OTG can be used for different USB classes. A CDC class driver as well as a FAT FS has been developed, making it possible to have serial communication with a PC using a simple USB-OTG to USB cable. The USB interface can
also be used for a memory stick for storage or field upgrade.
In addition to these interfaces, the control boards have Board to Board connectors with Ethernet/SD-Card and 3.3V UART signals, so special functions can easily be developed for fast proof of concept without redesigning the whole
board. The configuration of the signals is very flexible and can include UART, PWM and event outputs, GPIO as well as analog functions and Interrupt Inputs.
The Add-On extension board is available with Bluetooth BLE module and SD-Card connector. SD- Card can be used for storage and/or field upgrade of the application software. The USB OTG Interface can be configured as CDC Class,
HID class etc. and can be used to read an USB memory stick for field upgrade or storing Data.
We offer Evaluation Kits (EVK) and add-on extension boards to start development today.
By using the Evaluation Kit, you can literally design your GUI in a few hours since the kit contains all necessary parts needed for development. Power supply, programming adapter with USB cable, cables for I/O and power and a
USB Stick with documentation and user examples for the on-board interfaces.
The EVK enable you to quickly develop prototypes for the GUI utilizing the easy to use graphic TouchGFX®
Designer, FreeRTOS and the built-in drivers for the on-board interfaces. You can directly connect sensors of
your choice via the built-in I2C / SPI interfaces.
The modules have one to two Board to Board connectors so add-on boards can easily be developed for
functions like WiFi, LoRa, Ethernet and Sensors for verification without re-designing the whole board.
Traditionally you would have to manage several suppliers with different mindsets for an HMI-project. Display and Touch system, Cover Lens with printing, Power Supply, Controller Board, eventual housing and cabling and on top of
this, the assembly could be done in-house or by third parties with add on of transportation, stocking and test of sub-assemblies adding to cost and total energy consumption.
EDTs SE solution takes away all the hazzle. Our unique value to the industry is within the touch and display and integration of the two core technologies. It's in our ability to use optical bonding to improve readability and
mechanical robustness, to tune the touch sensor and interface to ensure precision, even with wet finger or while wearing gloves, and it's in our inhouse ability to integrate and ship the module with a standard or fully customized
cover glass. In any case, to use this touch display, users need a proper MCU to power it and a graphical framework to take advantage of it. By using ST's MCU and software, we allow our innovations and expertise to shine brighter.
